ILO Shows GenAI Exposure Spans 42.2% of Singapore Workforce, 28.1% in Philippines on July 8

The International Labour Organization released a policy brief on July 8, 2026, analyzing generative AI's impact on nearly 80 million workers across ASEAN member states. According to the brief, Singapore has the highest share of workers with significant GenAI exposure at 42.2% of total employment, followed by the Philippines at 28.1%, Indonesia at 21.7%, Vietnam at 20.8%, and Thailand at 20.6%.

The ILO also found that women are more likely than men to work in occupations with high GenAI exposure: 4.8% of women versus 2.3% of men across ASEAN in 2025. Despite significant potential for labor market transformation, the brief noted that widespread job disruption is not yet visible, with employment in highly-exposed occupations continuing to expand.
