iPhone 18 With 9GB RAM Cannot Run Two iOS 27 AI Features Requiring 12GB

According to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple's iPhone 18 standard model launching in spring 2027 will upgrade RAM to 9GB from the current 8GB, but will still lack support for two flagship AI features in iOS 27, creating a hardware-based divide between standard and Pro models.

Kuo's latest investigation reveals that iOS 27 requires 12GB RAM for two system-level AI functions: customizable Siri voice (adjustable tone, speed, and timbre) and enhanced offline dictation powered by local language models. iPhone 18 Pro models will maintain 12GB RAM with more powerful A20 Pro chips, launching in fall 2026, while standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will debut later in spring 2027 with 9GB RAM and standard A20 chips. The 1GB RAM increase enables basic iOS 27 AI features like photo summaries and smart email organization.
