Iran Reiterates Control Over Hormuz Strait, Requires Ship Coordination for Passage

GateNews

According to Iran's Strait of Hormuz Administration, on May 20, the country reiterated its management jurisdiction over the strategic waterway. The Iranian authority defined its supervision range between two geographic boundaries: eastward from a line connecting Iran's Mobarakeh Mountain and the southern tip of the UAE's Fujairah, and westward to a line between Iran's Qeshm Island and the UAE's Umm Al Quwain.

Under these defined boundaries, all vessels transiting the Hormuz Strait must coordinate with Iran's administration and obtain prior authorization for passage.
