Iran's Navy Commander Calls U.S. Naval Blockade 'Piracy'; Tehran Opens Strait of Hormuz for Commercial Shipping

Gate News message, April 17 — Iran's Navy Commander Shahram Irani said on April 17 that the U.S. naval blockade of Iran is "piracy." Irani stated that President Trump's so-called blockade has "blocked his friends, not Iran."

Earlier on the same day, Iran's Foreign Minister Araghchi announced that due to the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel, Iran will open the Strait of Hormuz to all commercial vessels during the ceasefire period.

Trump responded on social media, "thanking" Iran for opening the "Iranian Strait," while stating that the United States will continue its naval blockade against Iran.
