Iran's Parliamentary Chair Demands U.S. Recognize New Hormuz Strait Regime on July 8

According to Iranian official media, on July 8, Ibrahim Azizi, chair of Iran's parliamentary committee on national security and foreign policy, demanded that the United States recognize a new Iranian regime in the Hormuz Strait. The statement followed Iran's Revolutionary Guards announcement of strikes targeting American military facilities in the region, which the committee chair characterized as an initial response to U.S. aggression. "There is no alternative: the new Iranian system in the Hormuz Strait must be recognized," Azizi said.
