According to a statement from Iraq’s Prime Minister’s Office on May 16, new Prime Minister al-Zaidi pledged to launch comprehensive economic and financial reforms aimed at building a strong, diversified, and sustainable national economy less dependent on a single resource. The reform plan includes revitalizing industry, agriculture, tourism, and investment sectors. Al-Zaidi also committed to protecting public funds and combating all forms of administrative and financial corruption.
