Israeli Military Claims Hezbollah Members Violated Ceasefire, Continues Operations in South Lebanon

Gate News message, April 18 — An Israeli Defense Force (IDF) spokesperson stated on April 18 that over the past 24 hours, IDF units operating south of the "Blue Line" in southern Lebanon eliminated multiple Hezbollah members who violated the ceasefire agreement and posed an "immediate threat" to Israeli forces.

The IDF employed artillery fire to support ground operations in the region and destroyed portions of Hezbollah's infrastructure in response to the perceived threats. The spokesperson emphasized that military operations are conducted under directives from the political leadership.

The IDF asserted that its forces are authorized to take necessary measures for self-defense against threats, and that self-defense operations and efforts to eliminate threats are not restricted by the ceasefire agreement.
