Jensen Huang Reveals AI-Driven Computing Paradigm Shift: From GPUs to AI Factories

Recently at Stanford University, NVIDIA Chief Executive Jensen Huang outlined a fundamental transformation in computing architecture driven by artificial intelligence. According to Huang, the computing ecosystem—encompassing chips, networks, storage, data centers, and software development models—is being redesigned around AI workloads, marking the first true "reinvention" of computing since IBM's System/360. He emphasized that neural networks have replaced traditional instruction-based execution with continuous, real-time learning from data. As Moore's Law slows, co-design of algorithms, AI models, compilers, chips, interconnects, and systems has become critical to performance gains. Huang noted that through cross-layer optimization, NVIDIA achieved approximately one-million-fold performance improvements in certain AI workloads over the past decade, shifting competition focus from individual chip speed to overall system efficiency in completing real-world AI tasks.
