KOSPI 200 Futures Triggers Sell-Side Circuit Breaker on July 8 After 5% Drop

According to Korea Exchange, KOSPI 200 futures triggered a sell-side circuit breaker on July 8 afternoon at 1:31 PM KST after declining more than 5% from the previous close. The sell-side circuit breaker is designed to suspend the validity of program sell orders for 5 minutes when KOSPI 200 futures prices remain 5% or more below the prior day's closing level for at least 1 minute. KOSDAQ market also activated its circuit breaker 2 minutes later amid broader domestic equity sell-off.
