Magnetic Mines on Tanker Confirmed to Originate from NATO Country, Russian Investigators Say on May 20

GateNews

According to Russian Federal Investigation Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko, magnetic mines discovered on a tanker that entered Ust-Luga port on May 20 originated from a NATO country. The vessel was scheduled to depart for Samsun, Turkey after arrival.

The mines have since been successfully dismantled and disabled. Petrenko stated that preliminary investigation findings rule out the possibility the mines were planted by insiders within Russian waters.
