Marine Le Pen's Electoral Ban Reduced to 15 Months on July 7, France Bond Yields Rise

According to Paris Court of Appeal on July 7, Marine Le Pen, a far-right National Rally lawmaker, won a reduced sentence in her appeal hearing on misuse of European Parliament funds. Her electoral ban was cut from 60 months to 15 months, with the latter already served as of March 31, 2025. This effectively clears her path to run in next year's French presidential election. France's 10-year government bond yield rose to 3.67%, up 4.51 basis points, as markets anticipate fiscal expansion if Le Pen takes office.
