Memory Stocks Fall 3-7% Friday as Evercore Sees Worsening Supply-Demand Imbalance in 2027

SK Hynix-8.33%
SKHY-8.13%
SKHYV-0.98%
STX-4.38%
DRAM-7.30%
According to Evercore's Senior Managing Director Amit Daryanani, memory stocks including Micron Technology, SK Hynix, Seagate Technology, and Western Digital fell between 3% and 7% on Friday. The Roundhill Memory ETF (DRAM) declined nearly 7% during the same session. Daryanani told CNBC that the supply-demand imbalance in the memory sector is set to intensify in 2027 as AI development shifts from training to inference, requiring greater data storage and movement capabilities. He noted that the worsening imbalance should support stock durability and continued valuation expansion. Morgan Stanley separately stated in a note this week that the memory sector selloff creates a compelling entry point for investors, citing that data center memory prices climbed 25% in the third quarter.
