According to the New York Times, Meta and Anthropic are in talks over a roughly $10 billion artificial intelligence compute rental agreement as of Friday (July 17). The collaboration concept was proposed by Anthropic in June and remains in early-stage discussions; Meta is currently evaluating the proposal and the two companies may not ultimately sign an agreement. Under the potential arrangement, Anthropic would make monthly payments to Meta over a two-year contract period, with an option for either party to terminate early.
