Meta Plans to Track U.S. Employee Mouse Clicks and Keystrokes to Train AI Models

Gate News message, April 22 — Meta plans to install new tracking software on U.S. employees’ computers to capture mouse movements, clicks, and keystrokes for training its artificial intelligence models. According to an internal memo, the tool will operate across a range of work-related applications and websites, and will periodically take screenshots of employee screens to provide context.

The company aims to improve its AI models in areas such as dropdown menu selection and keyboard shortcut usage. A Meta spokesperson stated that collected data will not be used for performance evaluations or any purpose other than model training, and that security measures have been implemented to protect sensitive content.
