According to Reuters, Meta plans to begin mass production of its self-designed data center AI chip Iris as early as September, with the company's stock rising approximately 6% on Friday (July 10). The chip, designed with assistance from Broadcom, will be manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). Meta's latest in-house chip initiative aims to reduce reliance on external suppliers like Nvidia as the company invests heavily in AI infrastructure, with 2026 capital expenditure guidance set at $125–145 billion.
