Micron Stock Rises 3% After Musk Thanks Chipmaker for Memory Quota on July 23

MU3.22%
According to Investing.com, Micron Technology (MU) stock surged 3.2% on Thursday (July 23) after Elon Musk publicly thanked the chipmaker during Tesla's Q2 earnings call. Musk praised Micron for providing "substantial memory chip allocation" on "reasonable terms" at a time when memory prices are "absolutely insane." In the call, Musk stated: "We really appreciate Micron being willing to carve out space for Tesla over the next several years. Given that memory prices are quite crazy right now, they're actually providing us a very substantial allocation on reasonable terms." The supply arrangement appears to involve Micron's strategic customer agreement (SCA), typically a 3-to-5-year contract that locks in pricing and volumes, according to TrendForce.
