NEAR Mainnet Version 2.13.0 Released With Post-Quantum Signatures, Voting Starts July 20

According to NEAR Chain Status official announcement, NEAR mainnet version 2.13.0 has been released today, introducing post-quantum transaction signatures and dynamic sharding capabilities. Voting is scheduled to begin on July 20 at 8:00 AM Beijing time. The upgrade introduces ML-DSA-65 as the protocol's third key type alongside ed25519 and secp256k1, enabling accounts to hold keys that cannot be forged by quantum computers, with only 32-byte hashes stored on-chain. Dynamic sharding allows the network to automatically monitor shard states and rebalance at epoch boundaries without protocol upgrades or manual intervention.
