According to Monex, the New Zealand dollar rose more than 1% against the US dollar on Thursday (July 10), reaching a two-week high of 0.5763, as robust manufacturing data fueled market expectations for further rate hikes from the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. The country's manufacturing sector expanded at its fastest pace in nearly five years last month. RBNZ Governor signaled that economic momentum is stronger than previously anticipated. "Strong hawkish signals from the RBNZ have provided solid support for the New Zealand dollar," said Andrew Hazlett, foreign exchange trader at Monex.
