OpenAI Chip Engineer Clive Chan Joins Anthropic This Week for Custom Chip Development

According to Beating, Clive Chan, an early member of OpenAI's chip design team and the company's second hardware employee, joined Anthropic this week to work on custom chip and hardware-software co-design initiatives. Chan previously witnessed the team grow into a leading chip design force over two and a half years at OpenAI. According to OpenAI and Broadcom's previous partnership announcement, the custom chip project is scheduled to enter production in the second half of 2026. Before OpenAI, Chan worked on Tesla's Dojo supercomputer project.
