According to Ars Technica, OpenAI released ChatGPT Work today, a tool designed to handle complex tasks for hours and automate multi-step workflows. The new tool addresses limitations in the company's previous Agent Mode, which typically stopped after a few minutes.
ChatGPT Work integrates with workplace tools including Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Drive, and SharePoint through custom-built plugins. The desktop version can access and modify local files or use a built-in browser for online resources. OpenAI also introduced Scheduled Tasks, which automates repetitive work on a schedule or when monitored events occur, and users can monitor these tasks from their phone.
