According to Bloomberg, PayPal reported second-quarter adjusted earnings per share of $1.38 on July 28, exceeding analyst expectations of $1.27. Total payment volume reached $486.4 billion, also surpassing market estimates. The company raised its 2026 adjusted EPS guidance to $5.38, above prior-year levels.
PayPal did not respond to a buyout proposal from private equity firm Advent and payment rival Stripe valuing the company at approximately $60 per share. CEO Enrique Lores, who took office in March, has begun restructuring business lines and plans to reduce headcount by roughly 20% over the next two to three years.
