Payward Alleges $25M Crypto Custody Fraud Against Etana

Payward, the parent company of crypto exchange Kraken, has filed a lawsuit alleging $25 million in crypto custody fraud against Etana and the firm’s CEO, according to the complaint. The allegations center on claims that client funds were misused, commingled, and concealed as part of a “Ponzi-like” scheme that unraveled amid a liquidity crisis.

Fraud Allegations

The lawsuit claims that Etana engaged in improper handling of client cryptocurrency assets held in custody. According to Payward’s allegations, the scheme involved the concealment and commingling of funds, ultimately resulting in a liquidity crisis that exposed the arrangement.

Sun Ge goes head-to-head with the Trump family! Justin Sun, targeted by a WLFI countersuit for defamation, directly slams it as “PR stunt theater”

WLFI sues Justin Sun for defamation, alleging that he launched public-opinion pressure to force the release of assets worth hundreds of millions of dollars that were frozen; Sun counters that it is groundless PR theatrics, and that he will prove his innocence in court. The dispute stems from governance transparency issues exposed by the WLFI token freeze and Dolomite lending; Sun previously bought WLFI tokens with a large sum of money and Trump’s official meme coin, and now he is taking the dispute to court against the Trump family. WLFI says the freeze complies with the Clarity Act provisions, and accuses him of breaching his obligations, transferring tokens, short-selling, and spreading negative public opinion; the lawsuit is still being heard.

Aave emergency motion counters: $73 million in frozen ETH: “The thief does not own what he stole”

Aave filed an emergency motion with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, seeking to lift the freeze on 30,766 ETH (about $73 million). Core arguments: the stolen assets remain the property of the original users, and the thief cannot obtain ownership; when the Arbitrum Safe Committee returns funds, the stolen assets would immediately revert to the victims; the evidence related to North Korea’s Lazarus Group is hearsay, and the hearing is expected to be held at the end of May. This case will affect DeFi governance and future risks around asset ownership.
