Gate News message, April 17 — Pi Network has announced a mandatory mainnet upgrade to Protocol version 22.1 with a strict deadline of April 27, 2026. Node operators must complete the upgrade by this date or risk losing connection to the network.
The upgrade follows a fixed sequence: 19.1 → 19.6 → 19.9 → 20.2 → 21.2 → 22.1 → 23.0 → 24.1 → 25.1 → 26.0. Nodes currently at version 21.2 must proceed to v22.1 and cannot skip intermediate steps. The upgrade is expected to take less than 15 minutes of downtime. Pi Network recommends shifting traffic to active nodes during the process and has provided a fallback API endpoint to maintain service stability.
The community has responded positively to the announcement, with many node operators viewing the upgrade as a step toward improving network security and performance. The urgency of the April 27 deadline has motivated operators to begin preparations immediately.
Version 23.0 is expected to arrive by May 11, 2026, continuing the network's planned upgrade roadmap. Node operators who complete the v22.1 upgrade before the deadline will remain connected and compliant with network requirements.
