According to reports on May 13, Russia continues military operations following the expiration of a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine. Russian forces successfully test-fired the Sarmat missile, with the first missile unit entering combat duty by year-end. Ukraine struck a natural gas facility in Russia’s Orenburg region, located over 1,500 kilometers from Ukrainian territory.

U.S. President Trump stated the Russia-Ukraine conflict will end soon, adding that Russia should not gain the Donbas region. Trump said he and Putin have not reached consensus on the matter.
