Russia Expands Caspian Sea Trade with Iran to Bypass U.S. Sanctions on May 10

According to The New York Times, Russia has expanded trade with Iran through the Caspian Sea on May 10, citing sources familiar with the matter. In addition to drone components, Russia is shipping various goods through the waterway that would normally transit the Strait of Hormuz. The growth in bilateral Caspian trade is driven by Ukraine's attacks on Black Sea shipping and recent U.S. blockades on vessels entering Iranian ports.
