According to Korea Exchange, on July 20, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix fell 26.95% and 33.43% respectively this month, with the KOSPI down 23.13%, while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index declined 18.06% amid concerns over AI investment continuity.
Investors are focusing on three metrics from U.S. hyperscaler earnings reports scheduled for late July: core business profitability, AI cloud revenue growth rates, and capital expenditure (CAPEX) guidance. Alphabet (July 22), Meta and Microsoft (July 29), and Amazon (July 30) will present their results. Analysts note that CAPEX expansion from Alphabet and Microsoft would reinforce expectations for sustained AI infrastructure investment cycles.
