According to Beating, wealthy Silicon Valley families are increasingly sending their children to AI-powered private schools that replace traditional classrooms with personalized digital curricula. At Alpha School, students use tablets for self-paced learning in subjects like math and reading, completing core courses in just two hours daily, with human teachers serving as coaches for discipline and emotional support. Competing school Forge Prep goes further, encouraging students to launch their own companies and develop products to build portfolios instead of taking final exams, and offers a 24-hour AI principal for academic guidance. However, critics question whether families paying $75,000 annually are essentially making their children free test subjects for immature AI tutoring systems. Concerns also include lack of transparent teaching data on AI effectiveness and curriculum adjustments on sensitive historical topics.
