SK Hynix Accelerates Yongsan Fab Construction, Launches Y1 Wafer Fab Equipment Procurement

According to South Korean media ZDNET, SK Hynix has begun equipment procurement for the first-phase cleanroom of its Y1 wafer fab in the Yongsan semiconductor cluster on July 14, with initial plans to add 20,000 wafers per month of 1c DRAM production capacity.

The Y1 fab's first-phase cleanroom launch has been moved forward to February 2027 from the originally planned May 2027. The company plans to start pilot production line construction by then and conduct formal equipment installation between March and April. The production line will focus on sixth-generation 10-nanometer-class 1c DRAM for high-value AI applications including DDR and LPDDR products, with plans to supply HBM4E starting as early as 2027.
