Solana Co-Founder Warns AI Could Crack Post-Quantum Cryptography at 2026 Breakpoint

According to Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko, speaking at the 2026 Solana Breakpoint conference in Amsterdam, artificial intelligence poses a greater existential threat to blockchain security than quantum computers. Yakovenko warned that AI models could exploit subtle mathematical patterns in post-quantum cryptography (PQC) signature schemes like Dilithium and Kyber through brute-force pattern recognition, potentially enabling attackers to forge transactions before a functional quantum computer is built. To address this risk, Solana is currently testing a hybrid security model that layers traditional elliptic curve signatures with multiple PQC variants, allowing real-time signature scheme swaps without requiring a hard fork.
