South Korea Adds 74,000 Jobs in April, Hits 16-Month Low

According to South Korea's Statistics Bureau, the country added 74,000 jobs in April, marking the weakest performance in 16 months, down from approximately 200,000 jobs added in both February and March. The unemployment rate stood at 2.9%, unchanged year-over-year, with 853,000 people unemployed. By sector, healthcare and social welfare services led with 261,000 new jobs, followed by arts, sports and leisure services at 54,000, and real estate at 49,000. Science and technology services saw a decline of 115,000 jobs, while manufacturing fell by 55,000.
