South Korea ETF Market AUM Declines 39 Trillion Won in July as Leveraged Products Surge 5 Trillion Won

SK Hynix-14.64%
According to F&Guide data, South Korea's domestic ETF market saw total asset under management (AUM) fall from 393.7 trillion won at the end of June to 354.6 trillion won as of July 26. However, leveraged ETFs bucked the trend, with their combined AUM rising from 24.3 trillion won in late June to 30.2 trillion won on July 27. The top three performing ETFs in July were all leveraged products: KODEX SK Hynix Single-Stock Leverage (up 1.93 trillion won), TIGER SK Hynix Single-Stock Leverage (up 1.1 trillion won), and KODEX KOSDAQ 150 Leverage (up 1.03 trillion won). Analysts attribute the domestic market decline to weakness in Korean equities, while retail investors appear to have concentrated purchases in leveraged products as prices fell.
