South Korea Holds Policy Meeting on Real Estate Tax Reform on July 30

According to South Korean political circles, the Democratic Party and government will hold a closed-door policy meeting on July 30 to discuss second-half tax reform proposals, including real estate holding tax revisions. Vice Premier and Finance Minister Gu Yun-chul and Democratic Party lawmakers from the Finance and Economy Committee will attend. The meeting agenda includes converting the comprehensive real estate tax base from the number of properties owned to the combined property asset value, implementing differentiated tax burdens, and setting standards for ultra-luxury property surcharges. The final tax reform plan will be submitted to the National Assembly in September alongside the 2027 budget proposal.
