According to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Energy, South Korea officially launched the AI Data Center (AIDC) Alliance on July 29, with participation from four government ministries and over 400 representatives from industry, academia, and research institutions. The alliance operates under a co-chairman structure, with Jung Jae-heon, CEO of SK Telecom and chairman of the Korea Information Communications Industry Association, serving as the private sector chairman. The government plans to pursue a 18.4GW-scale AIDC mega-project in collaboration with the private sector.

The alliance is organized into three sub-committees under a steering committee: the Demand Division led by Naver Cloud, the Supply Division led by LG Electronics, and the Infrastructure Division led by Kakao. The Supply Division will establish strategies for localizing core technologies in IT, power, and cooling solutions, while the Demand Division focuses on enhancing competitiveness of domestic solutions for AIDC construction and operations.
