South Korea to Launch KOSDAQ Tiered Segment System in January 2027

According to the Financial Services Commission on July 15, South Korea will implement a tiered segment system for KOSDAQ starting January 2027, a market restructuring initiative designed to elevate the exchange's status relative to KOSPI. The FSC will also host a "Korea Premium Week" IR event from September 28 to October 16, aimed at attracting global institutional investors and promoting Korean capital markets.

Additionally, the FSC plans to release a roadmap in October for shortening equity settlement cycles from T+2 (two business days) to T+1 (one business day), and will introduce interest payments on public offering subscription deposits. The commission also aims to introduce dividend flexibility provisions by the first half of 2027.
