According to Yonhap News, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung began an 11-day diplomatic tour on July 24, visiting San Francisco, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, and Germany to advance AI and critical mineral supply chains.

In San Francisco, Lee is scheduled to meet with leaders of major tech companies including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, as well as venture capital firms. He will also participate in the San Francisco AI Summit, where South Korean companies including Samsung Electronics, SK Group, and Hyundai Motor Group will sign partnerships with global technology firms. The tour aims to connect South Korean semiconductor and manufacturing capabilities with U.S. AI technology and capital. In South America, Lee will secure partnerships for critical minerals—lithium from Chile and Argentina, copper from Chile, and rare earth elements from Brazil—essential for data centers and AI infrastructure development.
