South Korea's Covered Call ETFs Rally to 26.77 Trillion Won, Up 11 Trillion This Year

NDAQ0.65%
According to the financial investment industry, South Korean covered call ETFs accumulated 26.77 trillion won in net assets as of July 9, up 11 trillion won from the start of 2026, as investors seek downside protection amid market volatility. The KOSPI index fell more than 10% during the period, while the Nasdaq and S&P 500 each rose less than 1%. Asset managers are also launching active-type covered call products that flexibly adjust option-selling ratios to mitigate the strategy's traditional limitation of capped upside gains during rising markets.
