S&P 500 Futures Fall 0.32% Overnight Amid US-Iran Tensions as Ceasefire Risks Escalate

SPX500-1.13%
U.S. stock index futures declined overnight Wednesday into Thursday as escalating military tensions between the U.S. and Iran threatened a ceasefire agreement that took effect in April. The S&P 500 futures dropped 0.32%, Nasdaq 100 futures fell 0.46%, while Dow futures edged up 0.03% as of 9:20 p.m. ET. According to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the overnight escalations were defensive actions in response to Iranian strikes. Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve's latest Beige Book indicated that despite marginal U.S. economic expansion through May, inflationary pressures continued to squeeze consumers and corporate profit margins.
