State Council Promotes Long-Duration Energy Storage, Targets 80 GW Additional Cross-Province Power Transmission

According to the State Council, China's latest climate action plan released on July 9 aims to accelerate energy storage development and enhance new energy grid integration. The plan targets adding over 80 million kilowatts of inter-provincial power transmission capacity to expand western-to-eastern electricity transfer. It also proposes advancing integrated source-grid-load-storage coordination systems and promoting local renewable energy consumption through direct supply models.
