According to ING analysts on July 23, sterling could retreat further if UK short-term rates decline and fiscal risks resurface. The bank forecasts euro-sterling will reach 0.88 by end-2026 and 0.90 in 2027, driven by expectations that UK inflation may miss the 4% threshold for Bank of England rate hikes while the European Central Bank could raise rates again.
