According to an 8-K SEC filing, Strategy purchased 24,869 BTC for approximately $2.01 billion between May 11 and May 17 at an average price of $80,985 per bitcoin. The acquisition brings the company’s total bitcoin holdings to 843,738 BTC with a market value of roughly $65.3 billion, representing over 4% of Bitcoin’s fixed 21 million supply cap.
The purchase was funded through at-the-market sales of Strategy’s Class A common stock (MSTR) and perpetual preferred stock (STRC). MSTR sales generated $83.7 million from 430,344 shares sold, while STRC sales contributed $1.95 billion from 19,519,801 shares, making preferred equity the primary funding source.
