According to Reuters, on July 12, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced plans to build a team of up to 8,900 front-line AI deployment engineers and is actively seeking acquisition opportunities in the AI sector. The company believes artificial intelligence will create new business opportunities rather than undermine its traditional IT outsourcing operations.
The move comes as investors worry AI could disrupt India's $315 billion IT services industry. Market concerns center on reduced demand for engineering teams, shorter project cycles, and potential price compression as clients expect to share AI-driven productivity gains.
