Tech CEOs Shift AI Narrative From Job Cuts to Opportunity, Citing Productivity Gains

According to BlockBeats on July 6, technology executives including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei adjusted recent statements on AI's employment impact, shifting from warnings of massive job displacement to claims that AI primarily boosts productivity and creates new roles. Altman stated the industry underestimated human roles within AI systems, while Amodei noted outcomes depend on management decisions.

EY-Parthenon research found executives believing AI investments will trigger large-scale layoffs dropped from 46% in January 2025 to 20% in May 2026. Ramp and Revelio Labs data showed companies with highest AI investment saw employee growth about 10% faster than non-AI peers. However, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, despite touting job creation, continued organizational restructuring this year, raising market skepticism about corporate AI messaging.
