Telegram's t.me Domain Removed From Global DNS, Founder Durov Reports Zero Advance Notice

According to Domain Name Wire, Telegram's t.me shortlink domain was placed on server hold by the .me registry (Montenegro's country-code extension) and removed from global DNS, causing t.me links to return NXDOMAIN and fail globally. Domain records show the registration was paid through May 2035, ruling out expiration. Telegram founder Pavel Durov responded publicly on X, stating "t.me links stopped working" and asking the registry to investigate, noting the company received no advance notice of the suspension. The cause remains unclear, with possible explanations ranging from legal or regulatory action to administrative error.
