Opening

Israel-based cybersecurity firm Torq has acquired Jit, another Israeli cybersecurity startup, in a deal valued at approximately US$70 million. Jit founder David Melamed and the company's roughly 30 employees will join Torq as the platform integrates Jit's AI Context Graph technology into its security operations platform. The acquisition enables Torq to enhance how security teams identify, rank, investigate, and respond to threats.

## Deal Details

Torq was founded by Ofer Smadari, Leonid Belkind, and Eldad Livni. The company recently raised US$140 million at a US$1.2 billion valuation. Jit was founded in 2021 by David Melamed and Aviram Shmueli and has raised nearly US$40 million to date.

## Jit's AI Context Technology

Jit began as a security-as-code platform for software developers before shifting toward AI agents and its AI Context Graph technology. The graph links code with user identities, job roles, and system privileges, while also tracking runtime behavior and the sensitivity level of underlying data. This integration provides AI agents with company-specific context for risk assessment.

## Platform Strategy and Market Position

The acquisition continues Torq's pattern of integrating acquired engineering teams and reasoning components into its platform, following the earlier RevRod acquisition. Security operations teams often face more alerts than they can manage. Traditional tools such as security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR) and security information and event management (SIEM) aim to address this challenge, though Torq says its platform goes beyond these systems.

With Jit's context graph, Torq aims to move past response automation toward autonomous threat containment and threat prevention with greater confidence. This AI-led model is gaining adoption among large enterprises, with Torq stating it protects organizations including Marriott, PepsiCo, and Siemens.
