True, Google Launch Thailand's First Credit-Bearing AI Course

CryptoFrontier

True Corporation, Google, and Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation launched “AI for All Thais,” a nationwide AI literacy initiative designed to address Thailand’s shortage of AI talent, according to The Nation. The program includes Thailand’s first credit-bearing AI course, a 45-hour curriculum developed by True and Google that will begin at more than 20 universities before expanding nationwide. A separate train-the-trainer initiative will support lecturers in integrating AI education into regular classes.

Program Details and Scope

The 45-hour course represents a foundational step in Thailand’s broader AI workforce development strategy. True Corporation plans to provide foundational AI training to more than 10,000 of its own employees this year as part of the initiative. The course’s rollout across 20+ universities positions it as a critical infrastructure component for national AI capacity building.

Thailand’s Strategic AI Development Context

Thailand’s government views AI training as essential to economic resilience, particularly as the country seeks to move past the middle-income trap amid an aging population and shrinking labor pool. Officials have set an ambitious target: 20 million people—approximately one-third of Thailand’s population—should gain AI literacy within four years.

This effort is supported by new infrastructure, including Google’s US$1 billion investment in a Thai data center and cloud region, which will provide local facilities for data storage and cloud services.

True Corporation’s AI-First Positioning

For True, the course aligns with the company’s broader strategy to become an “AI-First organization,” with AI shaping both operations and product development. The partnership with Google and the government reflects True’s commitment to embedding AI capabilities across its business model.

Regional AI Hub Ambitions

Thailand’s initiative offers a model for other emerging economies through its public-private partnership structure. By training workers and collaborating on policy frameworks, Google integrates its cloud systems into Thailand’s national AI expansion strategy.

Thailand’s focus on “Physical AI”—technology used in machines and robots in real-world applications—builds on the country’s existing manufacturing base in robotics and automation rather than competing primarily in software models. The country aims to become a regional AI hub for Southeast Asia’s 600 million people, positioning itself to attract talent and capital that might otherwise flow to other regions.
