According to Xinhua News Agency, Deputy Attorney General John Sauer filed an emergency petition with the U.S. Supreme Court on July 27, seeking to overturn a court order blocking enforcement of a presidential executive order that restricts mail-in voting and strengthens voter identity verification.

President Trump issued the executive order on March 31, directing the Department of Homeland Security and Social Security Administration to compile voter eligibility lists by state and prohibiting the U.S. Postal Service from processing ballots from voters not on those lists.
