Trump Approves Ethics Language Banning Federal Officials from Issuing Cryptocurrencies, Puts DOJ in Charge of Enforcement

According to The Block, Trump approved ethics language on Monday that would prohibit federal officials, including members of Congress and the president, from issuing cryptocurrencies, with the Department of Justice set to enforce the provision.

The enforcement delegation to the DOJ rather than state attorneys general has drawn criticism from Democratic negotiators. Senator Angela Alsobrooks said she would not support the bill under this framework, calling it "an unserious offer" and arguing that all officials should be held accountable.
