Uber Eyes Delivery Hero Acquisition, Potential $12.8B Deal Could Close This Week

UBER-2.37%
According to Bloomberg, Uber is in advanced talks to acquire Germany-based food delivery platform Delivery Hero, with a potential deal possible as early as this week (July 14). The transaction could value Delivery Hero above recent trading levels of around 36 euros per share, significantly higher than Uber's previous offer. Delivery Hero currently has a market value of approximately 11.2 billion euros ($12.8 billion), and Uber already holds 24.99% direct stake, with total economic interest reaching 36.8% including derivatives. Talks are ongoing, and the deal could be delayed or ultimately fail. Such an acquisition would likely face intense antitrust scrutiny globally, given Delivery Hero's operations across 60+ markets and business overlap with Uber in Europe and the Middle East.
