UBS Forecasts Semiconductor Equipment Market to Reach $250 Billion by 2028, Entering Super-Cycle Phase

According to UBS analyst Timothy Arcuri in a report released on Tuesday (June 9), the global semiconductor equipment market is entering an early phase of a super-cycle, with wafer front-end equipment (WFE) revenue projected to reach $250 billion by 2028. UBS forecasts WFE revenue to grow 27% this year to $147 billion, with DRAM and NAND equipment surging 50%, while logic chip equipment (TSMC, Intel) increases 12%. By 2027, total WFE revenue is expected to rise another 35% to exceed $200 billion. Arcuri noted that customers have provided visibility extending eight quarters ahead, describing this as unprecedented in his 30 years of research.
