Ukraine's Zelensky Replaces Military Commander Syrskyi with Drapaty on July 21

According to Reuters, on July 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed General Oleksandr Syrskyi and appointed Major General Mykhaylo Drapaty as his successor. The personnel change follows political turmoil triggered by Zelensky's dismissal of reform-minded Defense Minister Mykhaylo Fedorov, which sparked anti-government protests across major cities including Kyiv. Drapaty, 43, is regarded as a new-generation field commander with experience in combat operations since 2014.
